Award winning playwright Simon Stephens visits drama students

Yesterday, Simon Stephens, an award winning playwright, visited drama students at Sittingbourne Community College to support in their theatrical education. Year 10 are studying his play, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, as one of next year’s GCSE texts. They were given the opportunity to work in small groups with the playwright, receiving first-hand tips and advice on how to present the characters in the play, whilst post-16 students were given directorial ideas on their BTEC devised production of Grimm Tales.

Simon has taught on the Young Writers' Programme at the Royal Court Theatre for many years, and he is now an Artistic Associate at the Lyric Hammersmith. His adaptation of the best-selling novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, has won 7 Olivier Awards, and it is currently on stage in the West End at the Gielgud Theatre.
